The Minister for SOEs, Tony Ryall, recently announced Jane as a member of the Board of ECNZ
Jane has had a long history with ECNZ, including advising in relation to aspects of its corporatisation in the mid-1980s, subsequently being Bell Gully’s liaison partner for ECNZ and acting for it on a number of major transactions.
In 1995 she acted for ECNZ when Contact Energy was formed and ECNZ’s assets and liabilities split between those two companies. With the formation of Genesis, Mighty River Power and Meridian in 1999, and a transfer from ECNZ of assets and liabilities to those companies, ECNZ remained as a shell to deal with various residual assets and liabilities. The day-to-day responsibility of dealing with them is managed by the Treasury, where Jane was chief legal adviser for five years until March 2011.
Having advised companies and boards for many years, she has gained governance experience in the issues facing directors and is also on the board of the Royal New Zealand Ballet and chair of the Ballet foundation of New Zealand. She is a member of the Institute of Directors.
