Professor Bernie Mayer, the international keynote speaker for LEADR’s conference in Wellington next week, is well known to many of us in the mediation field. 
First and foremost for his inspirational cutting edge thinking and writing, in particular in his books The Dynamics of Conflict Resolution and Staying with Conflict, but also in New Zealand as the motivator or mentor for many of us early starters in the private mediation world. A number of us gave up our day jobs on the strength of his passion for mediation and his conviction as to its central place in dispute resolution.
